Sales training for entrepreneurs who would rather not sell

You became an entrepreneur to practise your craft, not to sell. Yet it has to happen. Discover how sales feels when it becomes helping instead of pushing.

  • It is the pressure to sell that makes your conversations worse, because the customer feels you need something from them.
  • Sales is not something you do to the customer but something you do for the customer: shift your goal from selling to helping.
  • Handle the financial pressure by steering on the process instead of the result, because what you do today often only pays off three months from now.

You became an entrepreneur because of your craft, your idea, your freedom. Not to sell. And yet everything depends on it. No sales, no business. So you do it, with obvious reluctance, and usually only when the pipeline runs too empty and the pressure builds. Exactly the moment when selling feels at its worst.

I know that pressure from the inside. As an entrepreneur I worked with that tension for years, and I know how it feels when your conversations have to carry the weight of your revenue. The strange thing is that this very pressure makes your conversations worse. Your customer senses that you need something from them, and the walls go up.

Selling without pushing starts with helping

Pushing harder does not help. The way out is a different view. Sales is not something you do to the customer, it is something you do for the customer. As soon as your goal shifts from selling to helping, you naturally ask better questions, you listen properly, and a conversation emerges instead of a pitch. I watched it happen with an entrepreneur I worked with. At first he won 1 or 2 customers for every 10 leads. Once he became genuinely interested, it was 7 or 8.

How to handle financial pressure as an entrepreneur

And that financial pressure? You learn to handle it by focusing on the process instead of the result. What you do today often only bears fruit three months later. Know your numbers, count your appointments, and trust the long line. Then not every conversation has to land, and that is exactly what makes your conversations better.

Make your sales concrete with the model

With the Customer Experience Model you make this concrete: six elements you score yourself on, so you see exactly where your gains are. Take the free scan and check it in five minutes.

Start this week with one thing: count your appointments. That alone takes some of the pressure off. Want to really make it your own after that? You can, at your own pace or in person, with the Sales Excellence Training. Made for entrepreneurs who would rather not sell. Running a business can be honest and relaxed too.
